What are the symptoms of back pain?

Back pain is an uncomfortable feeling in your upper, middle, or lower back. It might feel like a dull, aching pain or sharp pain. Sciatica is a type of nerve pain that might present as numbness, tingling, or shooting pain in your lower back and down your leg.

What is sciatica?

Sciatica is a type of pain often caused by a herniated disk, spinal narrowing, or bone spurs that compress part of your sciatic nerve. This nerve branches from your low back through your hips, butt, and down each leg. Common symptoms include weakness, pain, tingling, and numbness.

Greater than 90 % of patients with back pain can be treated with a high degree of pain relief with conservative management.

What are the risk factors for back pain?
